Mystery 2014 Corvette Stingray Caught Track Testing Road Atlanta
Spy photos are captured of a very secret C7 Corvette Stingray as it performs track testing at the world famous Road Atlanta
When people see test cars driving around Detroit, very few of them get excited. They’re common place there. However, when a camo-wrapped test mule comes roaring through my neck of the woods, every car nut in the entire state of Georgia hears about it. This was the case earlier this week when rumours started flying that a C7 Stingray Z06 was seen testing at Road Atlanta.
According to reports, Chevrolet had the course carefully controlled, and their strict security ran off any and all people not directly affiliated with their project. With as public as Chevrolet has been with their C7 Stingray the last few months–driving it on roads to show it off, completely uncovered, and letting press and public sit inside and enjoy the vehicle’s interior apportionments–it’s rather strange that they’d protect this one so much.
The C7 Stingray spotted at Road Atlanta was wrapped head to toe in vehicle camo, and the few people lucky enough to be within earshot reported some incredible noises coming from the course. All of this lead to the C7 Z06 speculation; however, taking a look at the spy shot captured of the vehicle, things actually become less clear.
The vehicle in the above photo is, without question, a C7 Corvette, but there’s something off. It’s slightly different, and, that’s most noticeable at the wheels. Yes, those are the C7 Stingray Corvette wheels that people have been praising for their beauty, but, look behind them at the brakes. The undersized discs on this Corvette do not seem to be made with high performance sport in mind, as one would expect from a C7 Z06. The tires on this car also look slightly undersized, especially by comparison to what one would expect from a C7 Z06. Could this be a test mule for the entry-level C7 Corvette people have been whispering about? Could this just be a drivetrain mule, sent to Road Atlanta by Chevrolet, to see how the car handled a different track? Nothing is for certain, except for this: Chevrolet’s keeping the mystery high about the future of the Corvette, even as they unveil more and more to the public.
