What is Presumably a C7 Z07 Has Been Spied, and Confirmed by a Mobil 1 Team Member
Following a day of warm-weather performance testing, Chevrolet parked a camo-wrapped version of their next generation high-performance Corvette to rest. Spotted in Anthem, AZ where Chevrolet shares testing ground space with Mobil 1, a keen eye spotted the parked car and was able to grab a cell-phone shot of it before it was put away in to whatever secret bunker Chevrolet uses to hide their testing vehicles.
Not guaranteed to be a C7 Z07 (the moniker which will be given to the next generation version of the Z06 race-inspired Corvette), it seems that such an upgrade is the most likely thing for this Corvette to be. If this is the case, and the C7 Z07 has already begun testing ahead of the C7 Corvette Stingray’s release, expect to see such a high-performance variation announced officially in mid-to-late 2014 as a 2015 Model Year Stingray.
Whatever this Stingray is–Z07 or not–it is clearly sporting wider performance tires and a more aggressive front chin spoiler. The wheels are also previously unseen in person, but do match the leaked CAD drawing which was purported to be a C7 Z06 a few months back. All of this definitely points towards a Z07 or, at least, Grand Sport variation.
We can’t wait to get more information about just what this Corvette might be, and expect Chevrolet to continue with their history of dropping hints about new vehicles and performance variations at premiere American Automotive Shows such as those which take place in Detroit and LA early in the year.
